The digital learning era has arrived, according to Stanbic Chief Executive Officer Mwindwa Siakalima at today’s launch at Northmead Primary School.
“The launch of the coding program aims at technological innovation and will assist pupils in knowing actions to perform when dealing with technology. As a bank, we decided to work with young learners to increase the STEM drive,” he said.

He said that the community as a whole would benefit from the coding program, as well as the young students, and that the bank would send a technical mentor to the school to aid in the effort.
Science is one of the most crucial disciplines that spurs creativity, according to Anecetus Moonga, a senior Junior Engineers, Technicians, and Scientists (JETS) officer for the Ministry of Education National Science Centre.
“The times we are in now demands for young learners to be innovative. Innovation is critical to the country and the skills of coding will be of great value to our country. Youths of Zambia will drive STEM as the fourth industrial revolution,” he said.

Agness Lungu, the head teacher of the school, added that the students will profit from the pilot program since it will prepare them for the fourth industrial revolution.

“Learners will develop knowledge of science related subjects. They will know how to code and will be provided with mentors. I urge the grade six learners to value the knowledge,” she said.
