“We don’t really know if it was suicide, but there are no signs. We are still waiting for the postmortem. He was found him in bed nonresponsive,” said his aunt to a local publication.
“They phoned us and took him to the hospital this morning and we are still waiting for a report,” she continued.
Gomora executive producer Lungelwa Hela paid tribute to Siyabonga via an Instagram post, joining tributes from star’s of the series. She said she was having a tough time processing the actor’s death.
“Immensely gifted. He took a role that was meant to only be in story for a few calls, and he made it into a solid 2 years worth of work, and still counting. His approach to work was with a child like wonder. He was always excited. Always couldn’t wait to perform. Always gave his best, and it showed,” she wrote.
Hela went on to say she will miss him and she was looking forward to him launching his music career this year.
“I will miss his laughter, I will miss him trying to hustle me for more storylines whenever I saw him. Gomora will never be the same. Siya, we had a deal😭 I was looking forward to you launching your music career this year. I was so looking forward to seeing where else your acting would take you,” she continued.
“I don’t understand why your journey had to end so abruptly. I’m so sorry. 💔,” she added.
