Tragedy struck after taxi driver, Edwin Letuka killed his estranged girlfriend, Joalane Maria Mofolo (31) and her new boyfriend, Lungisani Sithole on Friday 1 July 2022.
Both Sithole and Joalane were soldiers in the South Africa National Defence Force (SANDF).
Joalane Maria Mofolo was found dead after her ex boyfriend, Edwin Letuka took her and another soldier away on Friday. Letuka killed himself after a high speed chase with police who were in a helicopter.
The chain of events is that after failing to get hold of Joalane, Letuka went to the house of a mutual friend and soldier (47), and threatened him with a toy gun, after which hedisarmed him of his weapon.
Letuka forced the 47 year old soldier to call Joalane and arranged to meet her at a local bar, Manifesto Lounge.
Joalane arrived with Sithole who was driving her VW Polo. Letuka immediately shot Sithole dead and threw his body out of the car.
Lungisani Sithole was shot dead by Joalane Maria Mofolo’s ex boyfriend, Edwin Letuka.
Letuka then drove off with the 47 year old and Joalane.
In the next day, police in a helicopter spotted the car and gave chase. Letuka then stopped the VW Polo and after firing a few shots at the police, shot himself in the head.
Police discovered Joalane dead in the front seat of the Polo with visible head injuries.
