On Saturday, Olivia Rodrigo used her considerable platform to share her honest thoughts about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade in their ruling this week. The musical artist was on stage at the Glastonbury Festival in the U.K. when she got raw about her real feelings about the right to an abortion ending at the federal level in the U.S. “I’m devastated and terrified,” the 19-year-old star told the crowd. “So many women and so many girls are going to die because of this. I wanted to dedicate this next song to the five members of the Supreme Court who have showed us that at the end of the day, they truly don’t give a sh*t about freedom. She continued, “The song is for the justices: Samuel Alito, Clarence Thomas, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, Brett Kavanaugh. We hate you! We hate you. “She then invited pop star Lily Allen up on stage with her to sing “F*ck You,” one of Allen’s big hits.

“This is actually my first Glastonbury and I’m sharing this stage with Lily, this is the biggest dream come true ever,” said Rodrigo. “But I’m also equally as heartbroken about what happened in America yesterday.”

Roe v. Wade has been in place for fifty years, guaranteeing a right to an abortion as part of regular healthcare. In those fifty years, many states have been chipping away at those rights by implementing laws and regulations that shut down clinics and make the gestational time period for legal abortion shorter and shorter. A number of states had “trigger laws” in place for this outcome, meaning they instantly made abortion illegal as of the ruling, including Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri and South Dakota. Others are moving towards that ban.Rodrigo is one of a number of celebrities who have spoken out about the decision since it was announced on Friday.
