One person attempted to do this by sharing a video of herself making perfect lump-free pap by using an electric whisk. Unfortunately, not everyone on the world wide web thought that this was the best way to pap and as it happens, there was a big discussion about pap making online.
Yay or nay: Would you use an electric whisk to make pap?
Here in South Africa maize meal, or pap as we so fondly call it, is a staple for many families.
Unfortunately, it is not the easiest food to prepare – well at least not for everyone.
What makes pap the hardest to cook is the fact that one has to continuously mix it together as it starts to thicken which can be quite difficult because not only is it dangerously hot and can burn one’s hands, but it also gets lumpy pretty quickly which may leave you eating dry bits of raw maize meal.
One young woman has found a way to make the process tons easier – at least for herself, that is.
In a clip that first went viral on TikTok and now on Twitter, @tshwanejieats can be seen using an electric whisk to mix the maize as it cooks.
The result is perfectly smooth and soft-looking pap.
