YET another actor has left Gomora .
Velile Makhoba, who played Gugu, appeared on the show for the last time last week.
An inside source said her character had come to an end and her role was no longer relevant.
“Her on-screen family, which includes her father played by Buyile Mdladla and Buhle played by
AmaQamata are no longer there,” said the source.

“The writers loved her. They were prepared to keep her, but it was difficult to squeeze her in between other characters. Her character had become redundant as a result they had to let her go. But they were careful not to kill her. Her exit was strategic. She might make a comeback because according to her script, she will be relocating to KZN to her grandparents.”
Last year, Velile said she had a one-year contract with Gomora.
She confirmed her exit.

“I had a one-year contract with Gomora starting from December last year. Gugu’s role had to be terminated because it was no longer serving the purpose. Buhle was no longer there and Gugu’s entire family was also not there.
Leaving Gomora was a bittersweet moment for me. It was my first TV break and I’ve had an opportunity to act alongside great talent. I don’t take this opportunity lightly and I’ll always be grateful for it. I’ve also learnt so much from the cast and I’ve no doubt that one day I’ll work with some of them,” she said.
Taking to her Instagram page she announced her exit and said Gomora has paved a golden road for her and sharpened her gift.

She also thanked her supporters who made sure that they tuned in every day to the show to watch her showcase her talent.
“My heart is full of gratitude because you guys as a production team made my god dream a reality…. Thank you for seeing potential that you believed was fit to work with, the whole team has been wonderful and kind to my soul, from the producers of the show down to my core workers, you made me feel at home and like I belong.
Gomora has paved a golden road for me and sharpened my gift and I shall be graciously carry the love you guys have poured into me, I appreciate all of you. To my fans thank you for the love and support you guys have shown me I’ll forever be grateful futh ngyohlezi nginithanda. See on the next one this was just beginning,” she captioned the post.

Velile said she has already landed a few roles.
“I’ve been lucky enough to find another acting job. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to talk about it as yet, but I’m already shooting with the cast. I will make a formal announcement when the time is right,” she said.
Velile is a product of KwaMashu Arts Centre also known as KCap.
She is also a dancer and has toured various countries showcasing her work.

Gomora writer Chris Q Radebe took to his Instagram account to give her flowers.
The actor sang Makhoba’s praises for her phenomenal acting skills. “What an incredible talent though. Oh my goodness! I remember the first time I was introduced to her. It was with a video sent to me by Kutlwano Ditsele while he was doing Shaka Ilembe auditions in Durban.
He sent the video without a message. And as soon as I pressed play, I knew exactly what the message was,” he wrote.

He continued “I watched the first 5 seconds of her performance and I replied: “Whatever the question is, my answer is yes.” And now it’s three yeses from me. This young lady is the Leo DiCaprio to my Martin Scorsese, the Denzel Washington to my Tony Scott, and I can hardly wait for our next project,”
According to him, her star will continue to shine brightly and that she’s destined for greatness.
“@velilemakhoba please stay as grounded as you are, as authentic as you are, as humble, respectful and, more importantly, as happy as you are. You have an innate gift that no one can take away from you and I know the country is in for a treat. “
