Idols SA, a television music reality program, is steadily losing viewers.
According to the SA Research Broadcast Council’s most recent audience statistics, this is the case.
In comparison to July statistics, the August numbers reveal a decline in the popularity of idols. It received 743,516 viewers in July and 661,758 in August.
Even though those statistics have consistently trended on social media on Sundays, they have not resulted in viewership. Television experts have given a number of reasons for the show’s waning appeal, including a lack of innovation in the way it is made and the failure to generate performers who become well-known on a global scale.
Thinus Ferreira, a popular social commentator and TV Blog owner, stated, “I have noticed that the show has been losing viewership since last year.” It’s because some viewers stopped watching the show after Somizi left and never returned.
What is happening with Idols SA is also happening with American Idols. American Idol took a few years off because it was losing viewers. It was the most watched show when it first aired, and they returned looking more revitalized.
I believe it is time to reconsider taking a break from Idols SA and reintroducing them. Its popularity on social media cannot be compared to its viewership. It only takes a few people retweeting something for it to go viral on social media.
