Zanele Potelwa has shared an emotional tribute to Cassper Nyovest after co-hosting the 32nd South African Music Awards (SAMA32) alongside the rapper. Describing Nyovest as a “generational talent,” Potelwa expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to share the stage with him.

The 5FM presenter took to Instagram shortly after the event, held on 15 August 2026 at the Sun City Superbowl in the North West, to thank Nyovest for making the night unforgettable. Referring to him as her “Amazing #SAMA32 Chomi” and “Incredible Fellow Host,” Potelwa revealed that working with Nyovest helped her understand why she had waited so long for her chance to host at the SAMAs.

“You were one of the reasons I realized why God made me wait to host at the @thesamas_,” she wrote. She added that the experience felt even more special because she got to share it with “an international superstar,” a “comedic King,” a “Born Entertainer,” and “the dopest human.”

The pairing of Potelwa and Nyovest drew considerable attention before the ceremony, blending their unique talents on stage. Nyovest, one of South Africa’s most prominent hip-hop artists, brought his charismatic energy and extensive live experience, while Potelwa represented a fresh voice among broadcasters.

For Potelwa, co-hosting with Nyovest held great personal significance. Describing herself as “beside myself” upon learning of the partnership, she affectionately called Nyovest the “King of the North West” and the “Don of the Dons.” Her admiration extended beyond his stage presence, highlighting his meticulous preparation and professionalism.

“I couldn’t have done it with anyone else! Your mind and attention to detail are extraordinary. You’re a genius, and it was an honor to witness your excellence firsthand. I learned so much from you,” she shared.

Potelwa also praised Nyovest’s seamless ability to navigate between music and live presenting, calling him a performer with entertainment “coursing through their veins.”

“You’re a SUPERSTAR whose natural home is the stage. What a privilege it was to host with you!” she added.

Her highest praise came in naming Nyovest a “GENERATIONAL TALENT,” celebrating his mastery not only of music but also of live hosting.

“A King who OWNS PERFORMING and can take on presenting and do an amazing job! That’s the kind of talent you are, Cass!” she declared.

Closing her heartfelt message, Potelwa teased the possibility of reuniting as co-hosts for next year’s ceremony, playfully asking, “Mna Ndithi Let’s Do SAMA 33 … uthini wena?” which translates to “I’m saying let’s do SAMA 33 … what do you say?”

She concluded by expressing gratitude and affection for Nyovest, making clear that the experience was one she would cherish forever.

Their on-stage chemistry was evident throughout the night as they skillfully handled performances, award announcements, and the unpredictable nature of live television. Although Nyovest acknowledged some imperfections during the show, he affirmed that he thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

For Potelwa, however, the event was more than just another hosting gig-it was a milestone she promises to share with her children as a defining moment.

While it remains to be seen if Potelwa and Nyovest will return as co-hosts for SAMA33, her glowing tribute suggests she would eagerly embrace the opportunity again.
