An 18-year-old girl who allegedly sought’sexual healing’ from a prophet from the church United End of Time in Lusaka’s Kanyama neighborhood after he claimed she had stomach issues that need treatment has been detained.
George Phiri is accused of exploiting his victim because he was also covering her housing costs and school expenses.
Phiri is claimed to have led his victim to a lodge in Kanyama Township, where he lives, according to Zambia Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga.
According to Mr. Hamoonga, the incident took place on August 11 at about 11:00 a.m.
“Police have charged and arrested George Phiri aged 30 a Pastor of United End of Time Church situated in kanyama site and service for the offence of rape. Brief facts of the matter are that the victim was being kept by the accused at his house although the two are not related. The pastor was helping the victim with shelter and school fees and took advantage of the situation and took her to a lodge within Kanyama Township and explained that she had a problem with her stomach that he needed to heal. He then had carnal knowledge of her,” he said.
According to Mr. Hamoonga, the victim received a medical report form, and the results are compatible with the accusations.
He said that the suspect had been released on a police bond and would shortly appear in court.
