According to a doctor who spoke to the country’s Daily Monitor newspaper, a deadly gin mixture that killed 14 individuals in northwest Uganda also left others blind.

The local liquor City 5 Pineapple Flavoured Gin is thought to have been consumed by all the victims during the weekend in the Madi-Okollo neighborhood.
Some of these patients have now entirely lost their sight, while others have just lost partial sight. Partially means they may still be able to see, but not to the same extent as before, according to Dr. Onesmus Misoa of the Arua Referral Hospital.
The proprietor of a gin manufacturing facility is on the run, but police have detained four persons in connection with the incident. (BBC)
