OLUSEGUN OBASANJO, a former president of Nigeria, has urged African nations to invest in coastline and road infrastructure if they want to take advantage of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area.

According to General OBASANJO, the current state of most roads is poor, and nations with coastlines have not made significant investments in coastal infrastructure, which is impeding intra-African trade.
General OBASANJO said trade infrastructure must be prioritized by nations as he spoke to attendees digitally at the Women and Youth Engagement Forum this morning in Lusaka, which was held in conjunction with the African Union Mid Year Summit.
According to General OBASANJO, until the barrier hits 50%, African nations must grow intra-African trade by 5% annually.

Additionally, CHIPOKA MULENGA, the minister of commerce, trade, and industry, has urged for increased intra-African trade to solve issues affecting women and young people.
According to Mr. MULENGA, trade between African nations is less than that with the rest of the globe.
He claimed that the establishment of the African Continental Free Trade Area will contribute to addressing the dearth of trade skills among young people and women.
