According to the government, all administrative processes for project approval under the Constituency Development Fund – CDF – shall be completed within ten working days of the date that proposals are submitted.
The 10 day turn out program has been implemented, according to Gary Nkombo, minister of local government and rural development.
According to Mr. NKOMBO, this will ensure that money are used more effectively by the appropriate constituents.
He claims that since January 2022, his Ministry has received over two billion Kwacha, of which more than one billion Kwacha has been distributed to various Constituencies for all of the -CDF-components.
When Mr. Nkombo made a ministerial declaration about the release and use of the CDF in the National Assembly, he was speaking.
As soon as the government locates a supplier, 150 vehicles for the monitoring of CDF-projects would be purchased, according to him.
According to Mr. Nkombo, 532 community projects have been authorized so far in 34 seats, and 1,081 recommendations for secondary school bursaries have been accepted in 47 constituencies.
Additionally, he stated that 1,071 bids for empowerment awards in 24 seats and 7,802 skills development bursaries in 48 constituencies had been granted.
To encourage openness and accountability of the CDF, he said all constituencies should post authorized names of projects, beneficiaries of empowerment, and bursaries on the relevant local authority notice boards and websites.
