ER24 paramedics confirmed that a man and woman were injured following the robbery. Spokesperson Russel Meiring says paramedics arrived on the scene to find police and security members already in attendance.
“Medics were led into the rear of a shop, where a man was found with a minor wound to his buttocks. A woman was found in another shot with a minor wound to her chest. Both patients were treated and transported to a private hospital for further care.”
In a video being circulated on social media, five of the suspects can been seen exiting Lakeside mall, with some carrying stolen good while two suspects are seen discharging their firearms at the mall’s entrance.
Two other criminals are also seen struggling to load the stolen items which they end up leaving behind, while others enter the getaway car.
One of the suspects eventually climbs into the boot of the car before they flee the scene.
Masondo said the suspects travelled in three vehicles and no arrests had been made yet, and a case of business robbery and attempted murder has been opened for investigation.
