South African actress and television producer Dineo Langa has revealed that she is leaving The Estate which airs on SABC 3.

The stunner who starred in The Queen via Mzansi Magic has also shared a heartwarming message to her colleagues, saying the challenging character she played, Mmakoena, will be off on the small screen.  Her announcement follows that of the public broadcaster in July to say that Langa – who the channel said was leaving to pursue other on-screen interests – would be on air until late September.

Langa went to her Instagram page and confirmed the news to her followers and said she reflects on the character and journey with pride.  “Sooo…in about a week or so, the character of Mmakoena will be off your screens. It’s been a whirlwind of a character to play and I look back on the journey I had with her with pride,” wrote the actress.   “She challenged me for the better and grew me as an artist. To say I won’t miss her would be a lie.

There are so many moments and memories that I’ll forever cherish. I chose to put up this post to thank all who contributed to her coming alive.  “There are so many moments and memories that I’ll forever cherish. I chose to put up this post to thank all who contributed to her coming alive.

“The most appreciated being THE INCREDIBLE CREW I got to work with. They meant everything to me as an actor because they would be my ally in every single thing!!! I’m eternally grateful to you all and I’m hoping to find many of you in future projects. I love you so so much.”

Meanwhile, Entertainment SA also published that after a sad and uncomfortable year (2020) which saw the awards show going virtual due to the pandemic, the SAFTAs are finally back again.

CEO of the South African Film and Video Foundation Makhosazana Khanyile also confirmed the hosts such as actors Mpho Popps, Graham Richards, and Langa would steer the event.
