Stunning South African actress and wife to Kabelo Mabalane, Gail Mabalane has revealed a touching condition, she is suffering from Alopecia but has shared advice with her social media followers.

Gail says she is suffering from a disorder that often leads to hair loss known as Alopecia and she shared a snap on Instagram.  The businesswoman has opened up about her battles with Alopecia, an auto-immune disorder that causes the hair to come out, often in clumps the size and shape of a quarter.

With this month of September recognised as the month of Alopecia Universal Awareness Month, the model hopes to give hope to countless women who are living with the disorder.   It is also revealed that the disorder cuts across both genders and involves the loss of facial and body hair, as well as hair on the scalp.

“This is way more prevalent than we think. From receding hairlines to bald patches to hair loss that starts in the middle of the head to scalp sensitivity. We, (women especially) have just become so good at hiding it and “suffering”/fighting it in silence,” she wrote on Instagram.

“My wish is for everyone who is experiencing hair loss to know that you are not alone. I know that the experience comes with a ton of emotions. When we work through them, we come out stronger on the other side.”  Formerly with The Wild, the thespian also disclosed that back in 2020, she noticed hair loss and discovered that she was getting bald patches from the middle of the head to scalp sensitivity.

She also advised women and social media users to get help as soon as they notice it and they must not hesitate to consult a dermatologist.  “Don’t wait to consult a dermatologist because early detection and treatment may prevent permanent hair loss,” she added.

“Identify ‘your tribe’ – this can be an emotional journey. Find the people who offer the support, we can’t do it in secret because early detection and treatment may prevent permanent hair loss.”
