Losing the CAF Champions League final to Wydad Casablanca also rubbed salt into the wound as winning this particular trophy has become the ‘norm’ at Al Ahly.

Following meetings between the club’s board and the Kagiso-born coach, Mosimane decided to leave.

Al Ahly replaced the former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor with Ricardo Soares who has been struggling somewhat to produce the desired results.

Now, Moawad – who won 11 trophies with the Cairo-based club – has spoken out that he would’ve liked to have seen Mosimane continue as the coach of 10-time CAF Champions League winners.

AL AHLY LEGEND PRAISES PITSO

“Mosimane made both good and bad decisions, but his achievements were far more than his failures,” Mowad said as per KingFut.

“The proof is all the trophies he won with Al Ahly, his achievements speak for him.

“Some fans criticised him for performance and rest periods he gave to the players, but I think he was successful, he won many trophies and I wish he would have stayed with the team.”
