Amapiano giants Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa were booked to perform at the Victoria Falls Carnival in Zambia on 29 April, but failed to arrive at the gig. According to IOL, the Zimbabwe High Court has issued a warrant of arrest after they failed to fulfil their contracts.

SowetanLive reported that through their lawyers, the artists fought back against the Victoria Falls Carnival and were allowed to return to Johannesburg on Monday 19 September.

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small were among several South African artists who were booked for the Victoria Falls Carnival, a three-day event that kicked off on 29 April. A source told NewsDay, that the two amapiano stars and vocalist Sha Sha, did not arrive in Zambia for the gig.

“All three artists were fully paid their charges and contractually bound to perform at the carnival, but surprisingly they failed to turn up,” said the source.

“There was no communication to the carnival organisers by the artists.”

At the time, the organisers demanded that artists refund them the full booking fee and the cost for flights and accommodation.

As per IOL, a warrant of arrest was issued for Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa on Sunday 18 September after the stars failed to pitch for their Victoria Falls gig.

A portion of the document reads: “You are required and directed that you take Petrus Kabelo Motha [Kabza De Small] and Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe [DJ Maphorisa]  of which they are found in Zimbabwe and deliver them to the keeper of the gaol at Bulawayo Prison, together with a copy of this writ, there to be safely kept until they are served with the summons against them issued by the High Court in Bulawayo.”
