Levy Mwanawasa Medical University has been fined 0.5% of its yearly revenue by the Competition and Consumer Protection (CCPC)Board of Commissioners for engaging in unfair business practices.
The institution had failed to give degrees to BSc Clinical Science students from the period of 2016 to 2019 despite their successful completion of the program, the CCPC public relations section stated in a statement.
According to the document, CCPC found that the university failed to grant the students a BCs science in clinical Sciences degree within a fair amount of time close to the scheduled date.
“The Board found that the conduct by Levy Mwanawasa Medical University was in contravention of section 49(5) of the Competition and Consumer protection as they had failed to deliver a service with a reasonable agreed time,” reads the statement.
The statement further said the Board directed the University to expedite the awarding of the degrees to the students.
