Multi award-winning musician Zahara – birth bane Bulelwa Mkutukana – was celebrated in a memorial service at the Rhema Bible Church in Randburg on Thursday, 14 December.
In a heart-felt tribute, Zahara’s husband gifted her with the last love letter he had penned for her. In an Instagram post, the South African singer shared a snap of her emotional moment where her husband was seen on one knee, reading her the letter.
Zahara shared the touching scene with touching words. “My kings last love letter to me… I am so honoured to have your love… words will always fall short to measure the love I have for you. Te amo mi amor” (Spanish for “I love you, my love”).
The post sparked a wave of love and support from her fans. “This is so beautiful! Gosh! Love is so powerful,” one of her followers commented. Many praised Zahara’s hubby for his romantic gesture. Others sent their support for the couple who have been together for more than five years.
The lovebirds have kept their relationship away from public eye, despite the fact that Zahara is one of the most popular singers in Africa. But in recent years, they have been more open about their relationship.

The Mgodi singer’s husband, Mpho Xaba, was one of the mourners who spoke fondly about the musician, sharing how they met.
Xaba, who is an engineer and had paid lobolo for Zahara last month, said that the platinum-selling artist communicated with him on a human level. He also shared how he played hard to get before they started dating because he was sceptical about being involved with a celebrity.
However, they eventually fell in love and got engaged in March this year.

Zahara passed away on Monday, 11 December, after spending almost three weeks in intensive care unit (ICU) at a private hospital in Johannesburg.
The Mkutukana family said she will be laid to rest on Saturday, 23 December, in East London in the Eastern Cape. Zahara’s body is also expected to arrive at her family home next week.
