NOTA Explains Why Cassper Is The South African Essence Of Jay-Z. NOTA has been extremely vocal on Twitter, specifically targeting influencers and local artists. The controversial music executive is never afraid to speak his mind, and he has disparaged a number of South African rappers, including Cassper Nyovest.
In a twist, Baloyi appeared on DJ Sbu’s podcast The Hustler’s Corner where he took time to shower praises on Cassper Nyovest. In the conversation, NOTA likened Cassper to US rapper Jay-Z because of how he has carried himself in the game and for the past decade.
“Cassper is like our Jay-Z,” NOTA said. Expressing his shock towards NOTA’s comment, DJ Sbu went on and asked NOTA what he meant by his comment. “Oh, what did you just say, Cassper is like Jay-Z how though you must explain,” said DJ Sbu.
NOTA went on and explained that Cassper‘s personality and his lifestyle are what made him likened to the veteran US rapper. “Cassper is the guy that makes you like, you could be rich, but he will make you feel like you are not doing enough,” NOTA said.
The music executive did not only stop there, Baloyi stated that it’s not only Cassper’s music that makes him the South African Jay-Z, but his music is also playing a part because of the belief he has for himself. “Even with the bars, even with the style of bars that he uses, I know that it clowned and that’s because of the cultural differences that we have in South Africa whereas in America there are cultures about being braggadocious and all that stuff.” He said.
NOTA added by saying; “Yes, we have an eco-channel, but we are very modest people,” he said. “Even if you had a good family, you’d be told to be moderate, don’t go out there and show off, people will be jealous of you and all. Cassper came in this whole game yo I’m hotter than everybody, I’m gonna be a billionaire, I’m gonna be a millionaire, I’m gonna fill up stadiums. “
Baloyi continued by acknowledging that no rapper from eKasi carries themselves in the same manner as Cassper Nyovest. “We haven’t seen a kid from ekasi do that, I haven’t seen anyone from ekasi and for me as a producer and as a record executive, Cassper is the type of artist where you don’t need a record exec.”
“If you look at like an artist like a Kwesta you need a NOTA next to Kwesta so that Kwesta can actually come out and be a superstar, he doesn’t have that whole entire Jay-Z, yoh Im gonna kill the whole game, I’m gonna dominate, so Cassper has that attitude, he is unapologetic about that and a lot of people they hate him for that,” NOTA said.
