Dupped as one of the greatest celebrated on-screen characters, Mncedisi Baldwin Shabangu came and conquered our small screens as he wowed Mzansi with his unmatched acting flair.
However, in the mix of things, confirmed reports have it that the celebrated award-winning actor died on 24 July 2022. In the wake of his untimely death, the family has since issued an official statement in regards to his death. As of now, little is known about the causes of his death, the family has since requested privacy at this difficult time.

He will go into the grave with his etvs drama series on-screen character of Khulekani Ngobese. In the now canned drama series Rhythm City, he was famous for wagging wars with the might David Genaro character played by the late Jamie Bartlett. He also had endless wars with Suffocate Ndlovu character played by Mduduzi Mabaso.

Like Shabangu, Bartlett died a month ago in the early morning hours. His untimely death barely comes a month after his fellow cast David Genaro’s death. On-screen, Shabangu was a father to Zinhle and Zack. He was married to the bubbly Nandi, who once had a fling with his bitter enemy Suffocate Ndlovu.

In the wake of his death, several celebs and social media users have flooded social media with messages of condolences. Several videos of his best scenes have since flooded social media as fans reflect on his illustrious career with his best moments on-screen.

In recent years he has fast become one of Mzansi’s finest on-screen. Just like those before him, he had his shine in theatre before his thrust into the limelight in 1992 after being cast in Gordon Motha’s Secret Agenda.

Despite his illustrious career spanning decades, he was heavily involved in theatre and was even dupped as The Godfather of Mzansi’s theatre. He enrolled at The Market Theatre Laboratory and went on to further his studies with The Royal National Theatre Studio. Here are some of the awards he managed to scoop during his acting career.
