Nozuko Pretty Ncayiyana, who is best known for playing Ayanda on SABC 1’s youth soapie, Skeem Saam and the role Nox on Diepcity. Hailing from Port Shepstone in KwaZulu-Natal, she initially acted mainly in theatre, in productions including Talking Spirits at The Playhouse in Durban in 2013, AntiChrist at the Baxter Theatre in Cape Town and a leading role in Sugary Spice, which had runs at the Olive Tree and Stable Theatre in 2014.. She also played the recurring role of Lunka in the Mzansi Magic’s drama series Abomama, first appearing in the series premiere on the 8th of April 2018.

Nozuko speaks out about her abusive past. After seeing her stepfather(s) abusing her mother, the actress claims she fell into the same pattern as soon as she began dating. She’s open to recognizing true love, developing new and healthy habits, and assisting other women in leaving abusive relationships because she’s shared her traumatic experience. “I didn’t know what love was for a long time, and I used to describe love as pain,” she admits to Drum.

When she was 19, actress Nozuko claims to have been in an abusive relationship. She hadn’t dealt with the pain until she was an adult and the violence had gone on for years. She believes she knew it was time to leave her ex after he attempted to damage her face. “There was no single event that caused me to leave,” she says, “but it had been building for a long time.” Nozuki thought enough was enough after three years of being in an abusive relationship and left in 2019.
“I’d had enough of crying every day,” she added.

Her lifetime goal is to become a well-respected actress within the industry. Pretty finds inspiration and motivation from veteran actress Masasa Mbangeni. Her breakthrough role came when she joined the Skeem Saam crew. However, regardless of her fast-rising status, the actress had to put her studies on hold in order to pursue her career. As a result, her role on Skeem Saam as Ayanda saw her switching floor to Scandal.
According to Ncayiyana “Acting is a beautiful art form”. It’s always her dream that one day she will open her own school. As she has always revealed her desire to provide free education for everyone.
