Shauwn Mkhize always goes above and beyond for her employees. We have seen it with her Royal AM boys, her all-Asian house helpers, and now her Royal AM Ladies.
In celebration of Women’s Month,Shauwn decided to treat them to a spa and pamper day.
“It’s Women’s Month and what better way to get the ladies prepared for the next game than a mini pamper session @royalamsalon. Akere we have to make sure that the Royal AM Ladies feel and look good at all times.”
The initiative was lead by her daughter-in-law who is also the Deputy Chair Lady of the Royal AM Ladies.
She got appointed to this position by Shaun. She wanted more ladies to take up space in the football field.
“We as Royal Am we sat and we thought we have girls in the family and I am also a girl. Unfortunately, Andile is the only man in the family, so he is outvoted. He brought in girls, his wife is a woman, I’m a woman so, we bought the franchise for the ladies team. Which will be competing in the women’s league. SAFA has approved it, we’re proud to announce that Royal AM will now have Royal Am ladies.” said Shauwn Mkhize.
In celebration of Women’s Month, Shawn penned a short message to women especially.
“We need more women in power, we need more women taking up positions that foster change. Most importantly we need more women working together.”
She said she has been working in male-dominated industries her whole life and now is time to see change.
“Having spent most of my career in male-dominated industries I can attest that it takes resilience and a fighting spirit. While we still have a long way to go, it’s important that we spend today celebrating how far we’ve come. Also acknowledging those that paved the way for us.”
Shawn has displayed good samaritan duties ever since being thrust into fame. She always receives backlash from it though but she never lets that deter her.
She built houses for the KZN floods victims but got slammed for the quality and structure of the houses.
“Today was a great day! I spent the morning together with eThekwini Municipality in Wyebank to hand over three houses that we, as Zikhulise Group and ROYALAM donated to families that were severely affected by the floods in April,” she said.
“While there is more that needs to be done to rebuild KZN, it is important to highlight the progress and celebrate the small wins. Thank you to eThekwini Municipality for the quick implementation of land, water and electricity in response to the flood victims,” she thanked.
