Former Vice Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), EMILY SIKAZWE, has petitioned the Constitutional Court to contest the termination of her position.
Mrs. SIKAZWE is asking the court to declare invalid the claimed dismissal of her by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA.
She has also asked for a ruling declaring President HICHILEMA in violation of the Constitution.
In her testimony, Mrs. SIKAZWE stated that she was first appointed as an ECZ Commissioner from June 17, 2015, to June 17, 2022, but was then promoted to Vice Chairperson of the Commission.
According to Mrs. SIKWAZE, her vice chairmanship of the ECZ was meant to last from 2020 to 2027.
She is suing the Attorney General for allegedly interfering with public affairs illegally and seeking damages.
