The risque drama debuted on eTV in April and things haven’t been the same in the Television industry since then. The first episode aired on the 11th of April and introduced its viewers to content that many don’t feel comfortable engaging in, in public, we also got to meet interesting characters with interesting storylines.

It’s hard to believe that we are already on the 100th episode of the drama.
The Black Door revolves around the Mabuza’s and the Sokhulu’s, the first episode introduced us to Khaya Sokhulu played brilliantly by Zamani Mbatha and we also met the pillar of the story Rebbeca Mabuza played by the legendary and super talented Linda Sebezo.

The series deals in adult content and goes on air at 21h30 on Etv because of this reason.
Viewers were unsure of their feelings about The Black Door airing on ETv especially because it was replacing one of the most viewed soapies on the channel, Imbewu. Imbewu had to be moved to an earlier time slot at 21h00 to accommodate The Black Door.

The series is a Blackbrain original and it currently dominates the late-night viewership.
The Black Door essentially deals with a young man who is dragged into the dark world of prostitution to pay off his dead brother’s debt. Khaya Sokhulu turns out to be brilliant in replacing his brother and this causes the Matron Rebecca Mabuza to depend on him for the Black Door, which is sinking to stay above water level.

Khaya is paying for his brother Chuma who stole money from Rebecca and attempted to run away but he was caught and killed by Rebs.
Frans denies that the bus she gives Khaya was faulty and lays the blame on Rebs. Image: eTV
Nomsa Mabuza who is Khaya’s mother doesn’t approve of Khaya working for Rebecca as he is also working in her factory.

The Black Door pulled out the best in the industry to tell this story, Nomsa Mbuza is played by the legendary stage actress Velephi Mnisi Khumalo and Sello Ramolahlone who plays Bra Gibb as well as France Mkhize played by Sphiwe Nkosi who is also a legend.
The 100th episode of the show marks 4 months since its launch of the show and we recently saw the casting of SK Khoza as Sabelo Cele as well

The Black Door also tackles issues of poverty and coming in the next few weeks the issue of Rape as well.
Khaya’s sister Thenjiwe played by Nonkululeko Mbatha is going to reveal shocking news to her family about bra Gibb. Bra Gibb is Nomsa’s love interest and is going to ask for her hand in marriage. Thenjiwe will reveal that Bra Gibb raped her and that her son is the product of that rape.
