So Kaizer Chiefs have signed eight new players so far, some of them have cost a lot more than others and with longer contracts. The signings are Siyethemba Sithebe, Zitha Kwinika, Ashley Du Preez, Dillan Solomons, Yusuf Maart, Lehlogonolo Matlou, Kamohelo Mahlatsi, while Mduduzi Shabalala has been promoted from Amakhosi‘s academy.

Two of the eight new players will be forming the spine of the team. Maart will be in the center of the pitch as a number 6, while Du Preez will play as a center forward.

ARTHUR ZWANE TO BUILD AROUND MAART AND DU PREEZ?

Maart

As a dynamic number 6 that delivers both defending and attacking, much of whatever style Zwane will be creating will flow through the 27-year-old from Atlantis, Cape Town.

Maart will essentially collect balls from his central defenders with the aim of carrying the ball upfield to start attacks.

Du Preez

Firstly, it is quite obvious that the 24-year-old from Idas Valley is not a traditional number nine, yet Du Preez is rather effective in his own unique style.

The former Stellenbosch striker will occupy the tip of Zwane’s attack but his extreme mobility will seem him run into wide channels at every opportunity.

Du Preez’s relentless movement will therefore disrupt the positioning of opposition defenders, and hence create dangerous spaces for the likes of Keagan Dolly and Khama Billiat to exploit.

Come Saturday 6 August at 17:30 against Royal AM at Chatsworth Stadium, Maart and Du Preez will most certainly be in the starting 11.
